I wish I was a gypsy

Poem by: Hayat Majeed Parkhi  Translated by: Karwan Kamil

I wish I was a gypsy

To hold your hands every evening, till we get exhausted of dancing

Folding our shadows like Ivy

Furnishing the evening with beauty

Ah I am longing to be a gypsy

In front of a mosque every Friday

Offering numerous kisses and a basket of apples

Here it is the generosity of a gypsy

But I wish not only I, but you also were a gypsy
